The Bostonian Candidate

Now I know there’s not much to add to the whole “Dan Rather is a Lying Bitch” story, but I think there’s one observation that hasn’t been made yet.

CBS broadcasting forged documents- and until they give up a source I have no choice but to assume that the documents came from Rather’s PC- intended to influence a US presidential election and get their candidate elected. Assuming that Kerry won after this old story about Bush’s Guard service was rehashed, Kerry would owe CBS big time for counteracting the Swift Vets' accusations. Kerry, through his FCC appointments, would be in an easy position to repay a broadcasting company for its largesse.

This sounds familiar. A multinational corporation using a war hero to influence a presidential election? Where have I seen this before?

Ah, yes, in Paramount Pictures’ The Manchurian Candidate (2004) Of course, this was supposed to be a Republican bashing movie and not a blueprint for the method that the Democrats were going to use to steal an election.

As an IMDB commenter on that page puts it:
While it would have been very easy to make Middle Eastern terrorists the main culprit Demme makes the evil force even more relevant to our society and he uses corporate America planning to take over the election by using a war hero to do it.
Now check this out:

CBS Broadcasting and Paramount Pictures are owned by the same multinational corporation:
Viacom Inc….[owns] the CBS and UPN television networks, …the operations of Paramount Pictures...
Coincidence? I think not.

Just kidding. But it’s about as probable that Karl Rove sent Rather the forgeries, and that’s the prevailing theory in some circles, circles I am grateful to not be included in.

Furthermore, imagine that Halliburton owned said movie studio and broadcast network and that Democrats controlled Congress. Does anyone doubt that they would have hearings about this attempted hijacking of a US presidential election?

I just consider this another manifestation of the psychological projection that the modern Left relies on. The party of southern slavery and Jim Crow tars its opponents as racist, even as it prevents poor inner city parents from using educational vouchers to obtain a better life for their children. The party of voter fraud accuses their opponents of election tampering as its lawyers fight to have the ballots of military voters thrown out.

It stands to reason that the multinational corporation that contributes so much to the Democratic Party would make a movie accusing multinational corporations of hijacking elections while it was engaged in the exact same behavior.
